European Union Welcomes Visit of Prof. Ghandour to Brussels

Khartoum,  (SUNA)- The Foreign Minister, Prof. Ibrahim Ghandour, received in his office Sunday the Chairman of the European Union mission to Sudan, Tomas Ulicny, and deliberated about the coming visit to the Foreign Minister to the

European Union institutions in Brussels during February 16 - 18, 2016.
Ambassador Ulicny said that the visit of Prof. Ghandour aims to put the Sudanese - European relations on the right track and to pave the way for the European Union to have a better understanding of Sudan and the region.
He said that the visit will provide a chance for exploring new areas of cooperation and discussing the issues of immigration, combating of extremism and climate change, adding that the visit will pave the way for a permanent Sudanese - European dialogue.
He affirmed the European Union support to peace and stability in Sudan, indicating that the European Union welcomes the visit of Ghandour to discuss means of enhancing the bilateral relations.
Ambassador Ulicny said that the Foreign Minister, Prof. Ibrahim Ghandour will meet during the visit with the Federica Mogherini, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission and European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Christos Stylianides, and the European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos as well as European decision-makers in the fields of human rights, democracy, migration and climate change and leading figures of the European Union and permanent representatives of the 28 members of the European Union states in the political and security committee.
Meanwhile, the European Union Ambassador said that there are 68 development and humanitarian projects being implemented in Sudan by UN agencies and international and Sudanese non-governmental organizations at the cost of over 150 million dollars through support from the European Union, indicating that the visit of Prof. Ghandour will enable discussing the implementation of these projects.
