Qatari Ambassador: Documents of 12 Short-Term Development Peojects in Darfur Signed

Khartoum, (SUNA)- The Qatari Ambassador to Sudan, Rashid Abdul-Rahman Al-Nuaimi, said that signing of documents for 12 short-term foundation projects in Darfur, through funding from Qatar, comes in the context of the programs set for

implementing the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur and the government concern with development and peace in Darfur.
This came in his address Tuesday to a celebration held at Coral Hotel in Khartoum to mark the signing of documents for implementing the projects by the UN Development Program (UNDP).
He referred to the efforts carried out by the State of Qatar in the past period which included five voluntary return villages at the cost of 70 million dollars.
He announced that Qatar will implement more 11 voluntary return villages at the cost of 70 million dollars as well as implementing nomads' projects at the cost of 50 million dollars.
He said that Qatar has established 300 water wells, indicating that arrangements are being made to establish Darfur Development Bank.
The Qatari Ambassador said that the UN organizations will work together with Darfur Regional Authority and the government of Sudan in implementing these projects.
