Foreign Ministry Reveals Sudanese Initiative to Mediate between Burundi and Rwanda

Khartoum,  (SUNA) - The Foreign Ministry has revealed that Sudan has presented an initiative mediate for solving the dispute between Burundi and Rwanda, explaining that the initiative was expressed by the Vice - President of the

Republic to the Angolan President when he visited Angola recently.
In a press statement, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Kamal Ismail, said that Sudan has presented the initiative with the aim to prevent escalation of the differences between Burundi and Rwanda.
He said that the Angolan President has appreciated the initiative and pledged to support it, adding that the Angolan President also hailed the Sudanese leadership and the role of Sudan in supporting his country during its struggle for independence.
Ambassador Ismail said that the Vice - President has met with the Vice - President of Burundi and discussed progress of the bilateral relations and ways to contain the dispute between Burundi and Rwanda, indicating that Burundi Vice - President has welcomed the Sudanese mediation.
He said that Sudan will make contacts with Rwanda to identify its position regarding the Sudanese initiative, adding that the Sudanese initiative could be launched alone by Sudan or integrated with other initiative
