FM leads Sudan delegation to the High Forum on Somalia

Khartoum, . (SUNA) - The Sudan took part in the activities of the high forum on Somalia, held in Istanbul, Turkey, with a delegation headed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Professor Ibrahim Ghandour.

The opening sitting of the forum was addressed by the

Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and by the Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud as well as the UN Assistant Secretary General Jean Eliason.

A number of Arab, African and European Ministers took part in the forum in the forum's activities.

The Minister of foreign affairs has meanwhile expressed his thanks for turkey for hosting the forum, stressing Sudan's continue support and backing for Somalia. He pointed to the training provided for Somali police and regular forces, as well as the hosting of some 6 thousand Somali students in the Sudan.

The minister stressed that the challenges facing Somalia at the movement require concentration of regional efforts so as to achieve stability and peace in that country.
