Government: Reports of Some Organizations on Number of Displaced Persons are Inaccurate

Khartoum, (SUNA) - The government pointed out that preventing arrival of organizations to some areas during the incidents witnessed at Jebel Marra lately has taken place at narrowest possible area, explaining that the organizations have been denied arrival at these areas for the safety of the workers operating at the UN and

its agencies and the activists in the humanitarian work.
In a press statement, the spokesman of the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Al-Saddiq, affirmed that there are still efforts being exerted to help the displaced citizens to return to their home villages and areas after stoppage of the fighting.
He said that the government authorities have given much humanitarian aid to the returnees.
Ambassador Al-Saddiq has described as inaccurate the reports about numbers of the displaced persons, indicating these figures were greatly different from reports obtained by the government.
He said that the estimations of the foreign circles about the number of the displaced persons were based on verbal and hearsay information, because these foreign circles were unable to reach these areas.
