President Al-Bashir Receives Chairman of AU High-Level Implementation Panel, Thabo Mbeki

Khartoum,  (SUNA) - President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, Thursday received in his office at the Council of Ministers the Chairman of the High-Level Implementation Panel, Thabo Mbeki, who informed President Al-Bashir on the arrangements being adopted by the Panel to hold the consultative meeting in Addis Ababa on Friday.
Present at the meeting was the Assistant of the President of the Republic, Engineer Ibrahim Mahmoud.
In a press statement, Engineer Mahmoud said that the meeting has tackled the issues of the national dialogue, the relations with South Sudan and the negotiations in Addis Ababa.
He said that Mbeki has affirmed support of the High-Level Implementation Panel to the initiative of the

President of the Republic on the national dialogue, which is considered the sole means for solving Sudan issues.
He said that Mbeki announced that his Panel is exerting serious efforts for convincing the rejecting parties to take part in the national dialogue.
Mahmoud said that the meeting has tackled implementation of the cooperation agreements with South Sudan State, explaining that these agreements were aimed for realizing security and stability in the two countries.
He said that South Sudan is still continuing its support to the opposition of the two areas and Darfur despite the good will that has been shown by Sudan when it opened its border and decided not restrict the movement of southerners.
He said that there are more than 30,000 southern students studying at the Sudanese schools and universities.
The Assistant of the President of the Republic warned that Sudan government will resort to measures to protect the country if South Sudan did not stop its support to the rebellion in the two areas and Darfur, adding that Sudan would resort to closing its border with South Sudan one again if South Sudan government fails to halt its support to the Sudanese rebels.
He said that Sudan hopes that its cooperation agreements with South Sudan will be implemented
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the African Union High-Level Implementation Panel, Thabo Mbeki, said in a press statement that his meeting with President Al-Bashir was useful and fruitful;, indicating that they discussed major issues of Sudan which included peace in the two areas of South Kordofan and the Blue Nile and Darfur as well as the national dialogue.
He disclosed that the consultative meeting will review the issues of the cessation of hostilities and ways to convince the rejecting parties to join the national dialogue on ground that the dialogue is conducive to achieving peaceful solution for all Sudan problems.
Mbeki has referred to his meetings in Khartoum with a number of political parties and the Higher Coordinative Committee for the National Dialogue (7+7 mechanism) which have reviewed means of boosting the national dialogue.
Mbeki said that he discussed with the President of the Republic the implementation of the cooperation agreements with South Sudan State which were signed in 2012.
