Chief Justice issues a Criminal Circular Amending the blood money and how it could be collected

Khartoum, (SUNA)- The Chief Justice, professor Haidar Ahmed Dafalla, has issued a criminal circular No 4-2016, amending the value of the full Diayya or blood money, as stipulated in circular 3-2009, to stand now at three hundred and thirty thousand (330,000) pounds.

The circular pointed out that this was

in application of article 1/42 of the criminal law for the year 1991 and article 212 of the criminal procedure law for the year 1991, and for achieving the objective of the legislator in preventing and shrinking and staffing off any aggression or any irresponsibility with regard to tampering with human soul, and in preservation of one of the five necessities stipulated by the loft faith.

The circular also pointed out as to how insurance companies should pay the money and as to date this would be applicable to insurance of death accidents, whether it occurred before or after the issuance of this amendment.

It is to be noted that the blood money used to range between 30 to 40 thousand pounds, only, and was applied up to now since 2009.
