Minister of interior Ibrahim Mohmoud Hamid gave apology for what happened to IDPs in Kalma camp W. Darfur during last week incidents. The minister announces apology during a visit to Nyala to present condolences to relatives of victims. The minister pledges that they would take elements involved in the incidents to accountability. However, the minister accuses Darfur rebel movements of exploiting the camp to harboring outlaws; in addition to dealing with illegal weapons and trafficking of drugs.

Sudan Holland Talks Kick off Today in Hague [2008-09-04] | | (smc)
Sudan and Holland started bilateral talks today in Hague. The Sudanese delegation to the meeting headed by foreign minister Deng Alor whiles the Holland side headed by foreign minister Maxiam Farhan. Sudanese embassy to Holland issued a press release stating that the talks would discuss development of situation in Sudan with special reference to Darfur. According to press release, the two sides would also discuss the negative impacts of ICC call of arrest warrant targets president Omar Hassan Al-Bashir.

Egyptian Foreign Minister receives United Nations-African Union Joint Chief Mediator for Darfur [2008-09-04] | | (SUNA) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abulghait received Wednesday the United Nations-African Union Joint Chief Mediator for Darfur, Djibril Bassole, who is currently visiting Egypt for consultations on means of boosting the peaceful process in Darfur. The Spokesman of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said Abulghait pointed out that he was keen to invite Bassole to visit Egypt due to the great concern given by Egypt for settlement of Darfur problem and to hold consultations with him on the initiatives made by Egypt recently to boost the political process and facilitate the start of negotiations between the Sudanese government and the rebel movements in Darfur. The Egyptian Foreign Minister renewed call for holding a high-level international meeting on Darfur soonest under the auspices of the United Nations and the African Union to agree on a new roadmap for the peaceful process in Darfur....More |
